Subject: .net issues.

Hello.
I'm wondering how I'm going to be able to get to the lower level windows api functions, as I stated in another post, such as hooks, system shutdown and startup, and etc. I'm beginning to think .net is just a scripting language that needs to be compiled, a lower level one, anyway. There is a lot of functionality open, but I'm not seeing to much.
I've also got a couple more questions.
I'm going to be working on creating a device driver, I'd like to learn how to get into driver development, etc.
Help would be appriciated.
Thanks,
