configuring dos window

Hi.
Ok, now when I got this working I need to change things in order to get my
applications to display text corectly.
I'm using swedish charracters, and the caracters å,ä and ö doesn't appear
corectly.
Is there a way to get my applications to display this?
I think it has something to do with the cinfiguration of the dos window in
windows xp but don't know.
