        HI.
tried the message box, and put the variable in before and after, and tried
the vb debugger, step by step in code, and it still came to that line 40,
and still gives me the error message, and did put a valid in the
costTextBox.Text box.
so, not sure why?
cheers Marvin.

Hi Marv, much better.
OK, so do you have a valid number in the
costTextBox.Text TextBox? That is what did you enter in there.
You can use a MessageBox.Show to show the value if you want to check it
before and after the Parsing before the calculations for debugging or using
the Vb.net Debugger to check it if you know ho to do that.
