If you have shell access to the server you can find which UID apache is running as by executing the following commands:
ps -ef | grep apache Or the daemon may be called httpd: ps -ef | grep httpdThe first column from the left is the UID of the process (the owner of the PID).
I guess you'll see multiple apache processes. The first one is most likely running as root. But as soon as apache starts it forks and the child processes are running as www-data (default for debian) or http, httpd, apache etc.
It's the owner of the child processes you are interested in. On 07.12.2010 19:51, Homme, James wrote:
Hi, Is this standard? Can I read somewhere about this? Should I ask my provider to make sure? Thanks. Jim Jim Homme, Usability Services, Phone: 412-544-1810.
