Thanks Octavian, I have corrected the question, it could have certainly be written in a better way. I was in a hurry to test it live. (English is not my native language also!) Yes, I also don't think these types of CAPTCHA will be the right choice for large sites where they have to change the question every now and then. But I think it is certainly is reasonable enough for the sites which don't want to use visual or audio CAPTCHAS. Remember a spammer will have to target the site and CAPTCHA system + the question specifically to break in. It means fully automated bots can not fill your site with spams. right? I also agree that some type of automatic question generator or random question selector would be nice. Stuff for version 0.6! Nobody likes to add and add new questions and remove the old questions which are understood by spam programs. The questions that have different numbers inside, in digits or words, can be easily parsed and recognized by a spam program. Other questions might be hard to understand even by a sighted. For example here is a question I got from your site: Type the first letters of following words "you out no". How many letters from each word do I need to type? I think that this might have been better written as: Type the first letter of each of the following words: you, out, no. English is not my native language, but I think that this way is clearer. If you would like to see it in action, please visit nirandas.com It is my new personal site.. The CAPTCHA is used to protect both the comments form and new registration form. Yes I agree that most site don't need any CAPTCHA mainly because they don't have enough traffic to interest spammers. But it is a problem for large sites. Also the issue of not being able to understand the language will be there for any method of CAPTCHA although for text-based CAPTCHAS it is certainly a larger issue. So, the site admins should ask simpler questions which can be solved from the question itself or should target the questions specifically towards the types of visitors the site has. I don't think the words captcha and accessible can go well together. Some images generated by captcha are not very accessible even for the sighted. They are hard to understand sometimes. I think that the most accessible (somehow) captchas for the blind are those that allow downloading a sound file, but they are accessible only for the blind persons that don't have other disabilities. A text message could be absolutely inaccessible if the user doesn't understand the language of that text. Everybody knows what it means user, username, password, but it might not understand a more complex question. A captcha which is very simple can be bypassed by a program especially made for this, and if there is a limited number of question types, it could be very easy to try them all, or skip those types which may be harder to parse. The truth is that most of the sites don't need a captcha at all, but many web developers think that it is cool to add something like that to their site. For last few days, I've been working on a plug-in for wordpress to implement a CAPTCHA of this type. The question and the answer are set by the admin through the admin panel. Questions like "type the word 'red' in the box" are used for validation. Logic for these types of CAPTCHAS using question/answer model are pretty straight forward and very platform depended. BTW, Let me know if you would like to test it out (beta)! This would be for an in-house application. No particular content control system. I'm looking for the logic more than anything else. I'm sure the developers would also like to be able to see it in action. Thanks.
