Hi,
I recently wiped Windows 10 off my laptop and installed Ubuntu Mate on
it. Thus, I use Ubuntu full-time. I use Orca screen reader prerelease
version because it is more stable than the current 3.30 release.
Besides, I made a push for Orca to have the ability to report sizes and
locations of web elements while creating web pages. The nice part in
this feature is that Orca now reports sizes and locations of controls
system-wide. Now, a blind developer can write Gtk3 applications with
whatever backend language and have the ability to create useful user
interfaces without help from a sighted person. Of course, reporting the
size and locations of user interface elements isn't limited to Gtk3 or
html. Any accessible user interface library works just fine. How cool is
it when pressing your assigned shortcut and Orca tells you that a
heading level 1 is 4px wider than the display's maximum width?
Aside from the above, I mainly use Python 3.7 and Gtk3 to write code.
When I have time, I use php and html3 to create web pages that test
specific features in Ubuntu or Orca screen reader. My favorite editor is
bluefish editor because it is fast and light-weight. It also carries
tons of snippets for tons of different programming languages.
