I hope these tips don't result in a rash of "I knew that" replies, but
they were new to me. Using Notepad to create a Log file.

Did you know that you can press the F5 key in Windows Notepad to add
your System's date and time?

And did you know that the process can be automated?

In Notepad, open a new file, type .LOG on the first line and press
Enter. That's dot L O G Enter. (Upper case letters)

Now save this file where you can get at it easily. I saved mine to
the desktop, and added a keyboard shortcut to it to let me open it
quickly.

You will now find that your system's time and date are automatically
added each time you open the file and add a note.

It may seem silly, but it's one of the most useful features I've found
in Windows in many a long year.
