I'm also using thunderbird.
It can be configured to ressemble vaguely outlook express if you
disable preview panels and set to open each message in separate windows
instead of tabs. That's what I have done.
IMO, the greatest function ever of thunderbird is the quick filter. Very
powerful and impossible to forget it once given it a taste.
I used windows live mail some time when I have just been switched to W7
but there are very annoying jaws / script bugs that make it not so
pleasant to use.
