Actually I restarted my computer programming in late 1991. That is after I
left the Air force. While in the Air Force I did no programming only
electronics. I could fix the stuff behind the screen and mostly communication
stuff but I never had to sit at a keyboard in the air Force. Before that It
was all programming on Vic 20, Commadore 64, Atari 800 and 800 xl as well as
TRS 80 and some rather strange things that the mars groups in Germany used to
use to hack cartridges for gaming machines like the early Sega and Atari 2600
. So in truth I started databases around the same time as you did. So I am
not as old as I try to make out. I just feel like it when I watch some of my
students struggle with trying to do the things the way sighted people do when I
know there are easier methods.

Ken,
I started computers in 1992 so much later than you but I too prefer the
commandline wherever possible. I like the table presentation of spreadsheets so
for something like a database viewer, if I am just viewing a large table, I
like the gui. However, if running specific queries, give me the commandline any
day.

Laugh you and I are the dinosaurs I am talking about. With that said I am
always using the command line first and don't understand why so many folks want
to fight with the web interfaces if they can get away from it.

Ken,
I don't think so. I got into computing in late 70s, and I still use command
line for MySQL.

Depending on which you like to use you can use either the commandline under
windows 10 or use wsl commandline and the commandline client for mysql. There
are GUI's but I have never used them. Of course when I started with computers
commandlines were king so I might be biased.

Subject: [program-l] Accessible client for MySql
Hello all
Any recommendations for an accessible client for Windows for MySQL that works
well with Jaws?
I know PhpMyAdmin works well, but don't want to set up a webserver and all that
only to be able to access some dockerized MySQL servers only used for
development.
Thanks in advance
Best regards
