[pinewoodsaudubon] FOS (for me) and Some Whining

I have been reading the reports for what seems like ages.  Finally, today
had my FOS Rose-breasted Grosbeak male visit my feeders.  The visit was
short since the "resident" Cardinals mobbed it and chased it out of the
yard.  Before it was chased out I did get at least an ID picture.

Now for the whining - I have been hearing Yellow-breasted Chats for about a
week now in the Chickasawhay WMA.  They have responded to call playback but
remained "hidden".  It has been frustrating as I wanted to have pictures
before DI.  The only chance I had to get a picture was through weed stems.
As a result, the focus is not very sharp and the details are "smeared"
because of the out-of-focus weeds between the camera and the bird.  Well, it
at least can serve as an ID picture.

I tried again today with no success.  The Prairie Warblers are still very
vocal and staking out their territory.  They do respond well to playback.

And the Red-cockaded Woodpeckers are sticking around their colonies during
the day right now.  Guess nesting will be taking place soon.

We leave for DI tomorrow afternoon.  Look forward to seeing many of you
there over the weekend.  Hope the island is "birdy" with migrants.
