McSwain's [Larry S], the Chickasawhay WMA [??], Jerri -Country Club, Joe,
etc. Would Duncan Lake be good last of August?

Yes, this is the person who contacted me through Facebook. I know the dates
he will be here - scheduled to arrive on 18 August and be in Hattiesburg
area for about a week (perhaps not expecting to bird the entire time). I
will NOT be in the area at that time. We are leaving on 12 August and will
not be back in the area until about 29 September. I gave him Joshua's email
address since he told me that he would be available at that time. Perhaps
he has not contacted him yet. In addition to the email to Martha Swan, he
left a contact on the PWAS website a couple of days ago. I forwarded this
contact to Joshua.
I have no idea of his experience as a birder but am assuming that he has
probably not spent a lot of time in the US birding. So, he might not have
birds on his life list that we find common - Northern Cardinal, Northern
Mockingbird, Carolina Chickadee, Brown Thrasher, Eastern Towhee, etc. I had
already told him that August is not prime birding time in this area but that
I was sure that we could find birds. All of the places you mentioned could
be good for the time he is here. Werner told me that he was going from
Hattiesburg to bird in Thibodaux and Grand Isle so I would guess that he
would get shore birds there. But, if not, perhaps a quick trip to the coast
would be good. Some of the other birding sites in the area could also be
good - Hattiesburg Sewage Lagoons, Chain Park, Petal Bike Park, the O'Neal
farm (if they are in town), McSwain's, the Chickasawhay WMA, etc.
If one or two of our members would be willing to spend some time with a
visitor from another country, this wouldn't need to be a burden on any one
person. I am currently in Seattle but will be home in about a week.
However, after a day at home, I will be gone for about another week in SC
and GA. So, my time will be limited between now and 12 August when we leave
for the longer trip. During that time I also need to get the first Pine
Warbler of the year out covering our Sept./Oct. meetings.
