Happy March 8 to everyone,
Here is the forecast for tonight as of Noon today:
"As of 12 noon, the satellite photos show gaps in the clouds moving in,
most clouds going south of Cave Creek, and the clouds over Cave Creek look
like they will be high thin clouds. "
Let me let you know what this means as far as tonight's star party.
1) High thin clouds means we can see brighter objects in the night sky such
as planets (if they are availble) and double stars, some brighter nebula,
some clusters of stars. We can not see faint fuzzies tonight. Keep in mind
that telescopes can not see through clouds.
2) This also means there may be times when clouds just get too think and in
the way, and we don't have anything we can show.
But some of the telescope team is willing to give it a try tonight. If you
are interested in attending, here is the revised schedule:
** Indoor STEAM activites begin at 5pm to 8pm* Outdoor Star Party is from
7:30pm to 9:30pm*
Indoors will have over 80 hands on demos for kids of all ages to enjoy.
There may also be a few lectures happening indoors. I don't have a list of
topics for the lectures, but they will be announced or maybe posted on a
flier at the event.
We would love to have you attend tonight's event.
What time you arrive is up to you. You may leave when you have enjoyed
enough viewing and demos.
We have 2 rules at our Star Parties that help keep them FREE and Open to
the Public...
1) Please do not touch the telescopes
2) Please no white light in the observing area - this includes the use of
your cell phone anywhere near the telescopes.
If you bring young kids, please monitor them and know that there is no
horseplay or running around in the observing area.
