[phpa] Not creating phpa_ files in /tmp

I've installed PHP Accelerator and everything appears to be in order, I was
getting the "[ [warn] No PHPA registration key given for www.thetrolls.com.
PHPA is NOT enabled." in the error log until I entered the right stuff in
the httpd.conf dirctory for that site.

What I'm noticing though is that the installation instructions say "When
running, the Accelerator creates files beginning with 'phpa_' in the file
cache directory, which by default is /tmp. The problem is that no such
files are being created in this directory at all. Could someone give me
some ideas as to why I'm not seeing these files? I'm looking there as root
so permissions isn't a problem.
