Off the top of my head, that should work, assuming FirstName is the name of 
the field from the form (remember that PHP is case sensitive) if you are still 
not having any luck try 

= "$FirstName, Thank you for your entry"; 

Just a note - and this is only my personal thing - some people get a lot of 
Spam and I seem to find that e-mails with my name (or username) in the subject 
line are usually spam and I delete them immediately - you may want to 
reconsider your subject line to ensure that it doesn't get confused for spam. 
This is only my personal opinion, take it for what its worth.
