Barcelona, October 2-4, 2013
CALL FOR PAPERS
The Investigative Psychology & Criminal Investigation
organization and the University of Barcelona announce the first "International
Congress on Criminal Investigation, Behavioral Sciences and the Law" that will
take place in Barcelona in October 2013.
Proposed topics
The psychology of offender profiling applied to criminal
investigation, as expert evidence, judicial tool, or a prevention method for
delinquency, is a multidisciplinary field that embraces several academic and
professional disciplines: psychology, law, criminology, criminalistics,
forensic medicine, and public security among others.
Professionals, scholars, academics and researchers in these
disciplines are invited to submit their proposals for symposia, papers, posters
and case analysis addressing topics in all areas related to investigative
psychology, criminal investigation and the law. We welcome proposals that are
empirically based and those that involve new and emerging topics as well as
contributions that examine issues of direct relevance, but not exclusive, to
the following:
a.. Offender profiling, criminal behavior, offender groups,
etc.
b.. Interrogation, witness testimony, interview techniques,
etc.
c.. Legal system, policing and delinquency.
d.. Legal Medicine, forensic sciences and criminalistics.
e.. Toxicology and violent behavior.
f.. Public intervention and prevention policies, including the
victim and the legal process.
g.. Cybercrime and cyber investigation: a special panel will be
conducted on cybercrime paying special attention to sex crimes against
children.
h.. Animal cruelty and violence toward animals: a special panel
will be conducted on the study and implications of violence toward animals.
All proposals should be submitted electronically via the
conference website http://ipciconference2013.com. Please check the congress's
webpage for regular updates regarding the submission process. After
acceptance/rejection of proposals has been determined, the conference co-chairs
will group paper presentations into sessions. The amount of time allowed for
each individual presentation will be determined by the total number of
presentations involved.
Work submission
Work submission will be open from May 23rd until July 10th, 2013.
The abstracts of the communications cannot exceed 300 words. Detailed bases and
general conditions may be consulted in the congress's web site
http://ipciconference2013.com after May 23rd. The main language of the Congress
will be English, although work written in Spanish is welcome.
