No, I wasn't saying it was a worm or virus. I was saying that any anti-malware programs THEMSELVES can block certain domains, they have domain-blocking features in them, and they also add domains and IP's to the Hosts file which will also block some. Post some examples of where you cannot download and I can look at the download links and source code. -Clint God Bless, Clint Hamilton, Owner www.OrpheusComputing.com www.ComputersCustomBuilt.com www.OrpheusComputing.com/cheap_reliable_web_hosting.html www.OrpheusComputing.com/PCworks-computer-help-email-list.html ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vern" >Is it just at the Avast site, or is it everywhere? More than just Avast. > It could also be blocked by any anti-malware programs, like but not limited to programs like SpywareBlaster, SpyBot, etc. My mother is 84 years old and is on dial up so I doubt it is a virus or worm, etc. She only reads e mails a couple times a month. Most of her time on the computer is off line playing solitaire. She has a game with 100 types of solitaire. <G> I downloaded the Avast and Firefox with my computer and put those programs on a thumb drive. I'll try it this way for now. I'm hoping the links work using FireFox. Thanks Clint. Vern Original Message ----- From: "Vern" On my mother's laptop I cannot click on the link to download the free Avast program. I get a red circle with a slash through it. She has Vista. I tried changing the security setting to a lower level and turning off the firewall but it still does it. Using Internet Explorer. I checked the first two pages in Google and didn't see anything to help me. ========================= The list's FAQ's can be seen by sending an email to PCWorks-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with FAQ in the subject line.
