Can you just hover or right click the folders and see the
creation dates?

I don't use XP's restore, it's seriously lacking. I use a free
program called ERUNT (mentioned it before here), which during
installation asks you if you want it to automatically create an
ENTIRE and COMPLETE reg backup upon every boot (or once daily).
This is not just the registry, but all hives, SAM, software,
security, etc., items that go along with it. It puts a
shortcut in the Start Up folder that seamlessly and instantly
creates the backups right when Windows loads, and it's never
running in the background. It's far superior to XP's Restore
which only restores the basic registry.

As you can see, they also have a reg optimizer that comes with
ERUNT. But I never have tried it.

If your PC ever screws up, you can go to the backup folder and
open the appropriate dated folder, then restore everything.
You can also create manual backups, I do that a lot right
before I do some kind of big change, or install something, in
which I may not have full confidence.

How do you delete history in the restore area? I can find the
files but
can't identify any dates. The folders are named RP1234 for
instance and
that does not mean any thing to me.
Thanks
