Please don't feel insulted by this question. :-)  Are you typing the netstat
command into the command prompt window or in the run box?  What you are
describing is the normal behavior for typing a command like that in the run
box. 

Otherwise the command window isn't supposed to close until you tell it too.
Try doing a ping or ipconfig from the command window and see if it closes.

I'm confused as to why "typing netstat -na at a command prompt" 
doesn't work for me.  The cmd window immediately closes. ??
