[PCWorks] Hard Drive

I just added a used Hitachi Deskstar 80 gb hard drive to a
Gateway computer with XP Home OS as a second drive. I set the
original to master and the second one to slave. They had been
cable select the first time I tried it. In device manager it
says it is operating correctly, but I don't see the drive
anywhere except there. Under volume it says it's not
initialized when you bring up properties. I have to second
drive at the end of the cable because it didn't work connected
the other way.
Any ideas to try?
