[Recently posted to Troth's Tips page (
http://www.sirtroth.com/tips_and_tricks.htm ); a quick refresher on
the funcionality of the Windows Key. I'm always amazed at how many
new users don't know about its features. - Faustus]

Probably the most overlooked key on the common keyboard; the Windows
key [i.e. the one with the Microsoft Windows logo on it] can be used
at any time to perform a variety of common tasks, quickly.

I personally find the "display Desktop" shortcut to be very useful,
especially when there are windows which cannot be minimised
dominating the screen (e.g. installation programs, browser pop-ups,
and so on).

[Windows Key] - displays the Start Menu

[Windows Key]+[D] - minimises all windows and displays the Desktop
[Windows Key]+[D] - (reverse the process)

[Windows Key]+[E] - opens a new instance of Window Explorer

[Windows Key]+[F] - displays the "Find all files" dialog box

[Windows Key]+[R] - displays the "Run" dialog box

[Windows Key]+[X] - locks a Windows XP computer

[Windows Key]+[M] - minimises all open windows
[Windows Key]+[Shift]+[M] - (reverse the process)

[Windows Key]+[F1] - displays the Windows Help menu

[Windows Key]+[Pause/Break] - displays the System Properties dialog
box

[Windows Key]+[Tab] - cycles through items on the taskbar
