Click the Start button and start typing. Cursor is automatically placed in the search box. Results will display in the Start Menu window. There is a way to add Search to the right side of the Start Menu but I don't remember where I saw it at. In XP, you would than click on the Start Menu tab and scroll through the list of what's available, checking the ones you want.
