the largest items that you likely will store on the computer will be images and downloaded files. Now the best way to keep those controlled is to have an image folder -- XP uses a generic My Pictures, My Video For downloads, create a folder called My Downloads and then when downloading, be sure to create a named folder for the d/l and the link to the site and when you have done the install, move that folder into another one inside My Downloads called Installed Files. Images, Videos and anthing you you don't use a lot can be saved on an external HDD or burned to CD/DVD Frankly I'd simply get another HDD and an external for BU and keep the items accessible on the computer.
