Warranty, if any, may require mail in. Some shops don't work on some brands due to very proprietary structure of the unit. The Dell I metioned in an earlier message can have a one year on-site warranty for $59 or 3 years for $118. With Shipping and handling you are still under your $900 limit even with the three year warranty and you get a Pentium instead of a Celeron or AMD. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cris" <cris@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, October 11, 2005 4:33 PM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: laptop - con't !! > what would make it be one that could or couldn't be taken to a shop? > Cris > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Roy Hanson > To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Sent: Tuesday, October 11, 2005 4:04 PM > Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: laptop - con't !! > > acer is a good brand. make sure the lap top is one that you can take > into a local repair shop, this saves you time and money. > > Cris wrote: > >>Shopping for laptops online now - >>I found this one - Does anyone know ACER brand? >>I am looking at that Gateway on the tiger direct site at >>this point too. >>The dell site had small hard drives. >> > > -- > <Please delete this line and everything below.> > > To unsub or change your email settings: > //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk > > To access our Archives: > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ > //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/ > > -- <Please delete this line and everything below.> To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/
