Here is one thing you might want to check: In IE, go to the tools menu and go to internet options. On the programs tab, what do you have for your HTML editor, does it have notepad? You might want to try selecting another HTML editor if you have a choice in the list of programs to use for your HTML editor. Then try to view source on a page. If you can view source with another program, then that would suggest that notepad.exe is corrupted.
