Yep, this did it, thanks, GFL.  BUT..............I still get a message 
to say "An automatic connection to the internet could not be 
established. Please manually establish a connection to download your 
update files (this can typically be done by launching your internet 
browser."

I use Mozilla, which works OK with the AVG Update facility, and I am 
'always on' with cable/wireless to my ISP. I have opened mMSIE also, but 
that makes no difference.
This problem seems to occur in the early part of the day (NZTime), and 
it now happens with both .cz and .com!  As I have said, later in the 
day, I can d/l from .cz OK.  Could it be something to do with time 
difference? A couple of months ago I had no problem.

Further suggestions very welcome.
