Hi Allen,
This can be due to the email you receive being in HTML format. Eudora is 
somewhat limited in its HTML display capability. To increase it you can go 
in Tools--> Options--> Viewing Mail and check the "Use Microsoft Viewer" 
box, this will give you a good HTML viewing capability *but* will turn 
Eudora in a very insecure email client, with all the security problems of 
Internet Explorer. I never do this.
Another possible cause is that, if you're reading your email offline, the 
HTML content didn't have time to load before you disconnected. If you keep 
connected and wait a while with the message open the white boxes may fill 
up with graphics.
