cristy, you have to import the files (or copy them, I don't remember) from the cd/rw back to your computer before you can do any editing at all. When you click on the file and go to properties and it says read only, uncheck that and check the archive box, then apply. You can do this to eah individual file as you need them, or there is a program that is supposed to convert them only. This came up right around the time Andy got mad and quit the list, about a year ago. (he was real smart too) I can probably find it if you're interested ~Glo ----- Original Message ----- From: cris To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, July 21, 2004 6:57 AM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Read only files I don't think you can edit - even on a cd/rw. I think what you have to do is to edit on your computer - then re-burn it onto the cd/rw. but I've never used the cd/rw's. These are files I put on a CD, family tree info that I put on myself. The CD is a CD/RW CD. I do use a program for some of the info but not all. cristy To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/ For more info: //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/list?list_id=pctechtalk To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/ For more info: //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/list?list_id=pctechtalk --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
