Hi Andy,

SUSE Linux offers a trial of there free version that boots your pc from =
a CD
without installing it on to your hard drive.
http://www.suse.com/us/private/download/suse_linux/index.html

SUSE also has the ability to run and install most (some) windows based
programs when installed, not sure about from CD.

Hope this helps,
Luke

It is called Knoppix Linux Distribution and can find an article on
http://www.thescreensavers.com/ on TechTV.com dated Tuesday December 17,
2002.

A few weeks ago I was reading an article on different o/s's and I came
across one which basically runs off a CD. It struck me as being a really
good idea for 'emergencies' so you could at least rescue your files in
the
event of a major crash. I've a feeling it was a Linux o/s, but I
wouldn't
swear to it, and I've lost the magazine it was in now, so has anyone
else
heard of anything like this?

Andy
