I live in the states not down under, but the techno info should be the
same.
Once you've programmed the set top box ( decoder) you should not have to
reprogram it for that channel. The box should remember that setting. The
Idea is the same as the satellite boxes.
As far as the phone line into the box so you can order PPVs it will not
slow down your Internet connection.
The box does not maintain a constant connection with the cable provider.
If it did you would never be able to use your phone. The boxes are
usually programmed to call in once a week at a very early in the morning
time. Something like 4 am local.

I have to adjust my set top box to this station to receive a high
definition signal which initially is marvellous and it receives it 100%,
my query once I have adjusted my set top high defintion box to this tv
station, do I have to continually do this for all time, or will their be
a memory function that will retain these settings for future use, I
know, this is complicated question but there a lot of intelligent guys
and dolls out there on these lists so get back to me please

ps my pay tv provider is also going digital transmitting in only
standard definition, they want to put a phone line in so I can order pay
per view videos, don't want there phone line in think it will slow down
my internet connection they split your phone line into two, so now they
say we install a wireless connection for you, at 75 years old was
slowing going around the bend before these latest problems?????
