If this issue has been around since before you last ran CHKDSK with all the trimmings, CHKDSK is not going to fix this one. If it could, it would have fixed it then. My suggestion would be to try installing it over itself in the hope that whatever file(s) have turned bad will be overwritten by fresh copies that do what they're supposed to do. IF that doesn't work, the next step would be to completely uninstall the app and then reinstall it to accomplish the same thing.
