Well I was wrong, I have system restore configured to
automatically make a restore point. The one it wants to restore
was today Sunday at 10:58 AM -- I used it but the only trouble
is, this was after the patch was downloaded and installed.

How do I get to a previous restore point (i.e., like yesterday)?
Never needed to use this before so the reason I am asking. Went
to Help and Support but apparently I'm not asking the way it can
answer (LOL).

I thought of system restore but the last one was awhile ago and
I don't want to lose the data (movies, games, etc.) I've made in
the mean time. Thought about using a trial version but I don't
know which software would be good. I went to the Nero site
because I have the light version which came with this computer
but I didn't see where it would burn an avi file. Mostly talked
about converting from a camcorder, etc.

Next time I will do a system restore before I download anything.
Taught me a very valuable lesson!!

Judith,

You could try a system restore point before you installed the
patch. If that doesn't work, You
could download a trail version till you get the Serif
straightend out.
