I am a bit skeptical of this remark because I have never heard of problems with defraggler before and have seen it get recommendations from magazines. I didn't want to respond until I did some google searches to see if maybe the latest revision had a problem. I didn't find any complaints of BSOD's related to defraggler. Maybe your PC needed a reboot after installing it. I see that often when I install something when I haven't rebooted in a few days. You might even have a software conflict with your anti-virus or something else that hooks into the OS itself. Another possibility is that defraggler couldn't handle a problem with your file system. I would recommend running chkdsk because of that and after anytime Windows crashes or BSOD's or whatever stops it from shutting down properly. Anyway, if you have some kind of software conflict then it's a good thing you uninstalled defraggler. -----Original Message----- From: pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Matt Moceri Sent: Monday, December 01, 2008 1:00 PM To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Defrag programs Some people in this group have recommended defraggler for a defrag program. With all the discussion of defragging of our HD's I thought I would give it a try myself. My experience wasn't a good one. For the first time in I can't remember how long that BSOD hit. Defraggler was installed and everything to this point looked fine. The Icon is even really cute. The option to defrag a folder was a neat option. With that I defragged a few folders and was feeling excited. Then I tried the whole HD. It went to 35% and BANG! The BSOD. It wasn't long before it was removed and all is well again. My recommendation is to not use that one!
