This last time, I had to follow letterman's directions for safe mode, and replace it in both the win32 folder and the ....other folder he mentions! and then - it worked - and I updated windows again, and it stopped working again, and my dll changed again to the higher number. Pat yes the things we do to see stationery and etc...lol ----- Original Message ----- From: "cris" <cris@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, June 28, 2004 11:13 AM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Can't forward embedded images I had to fix mine in safe mode the last time. Then I updated my windows again - and it disappeared - again. I was wondering - that one update that I did, then I'd get a notice pop up saying I had to download it again. If it was being undone by the changing of the dll - but a friend suggested that if I dumped my tmp files before re-booting after I did a windows update, that sometimes, the windows updates didn't 'stick'. news to me! but I need to do that dll file thing - again!!! what a pain! then we'll get this new big service pack2 - and all the fixes will be undone! including the embedded one for EOT fonts with WMP - thx! cris ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pat" <rhekay@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, June 28, 2004 10:22 AM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Can't forward embedded images yes it is that dll cris ----- Original Message ----- From: "cris" <cris@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, June 28, 2004 10:26 AM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Can't forward embedded images this is another problem microsoft created with this! Are you using the inetcomm.dll? This seems to be conected to the MS automatic update of April 14 "Cumulative Security Update for Outlook Express 6 Service Pack 1, (KB837009). I understand that update removed a .dll that is needed for forwarding embedded images more than once and have tried the Letterman fix to no avail. Is there a way to delete that update? This is so annoying, I could throw this thing right out the window! What about system restore, will it go back that far? If so, can I create a restore point and name it MS Update? And then how will I get the subsequent updates that will be eliminated by restoring way back to April, can I just go back to updates and get them? I mean, will it then show that I'm missing those? There was one for IE 6 SP1 on that same date and another one on June 5 which is the exact same as the one in April, #KB837009. I thought that might have fixed the first one, but apparently it didn't. I 'm running W-Me and would really appreciate using my computer for what I want to do with it, rather than what MS will allow! Cris, I appreciate your trying to help me with this, but it didn't work, did you have any luck with it yourself? Can somebody please help me fix this before I end up breaking two windows and a screen (excuse double entendre, I mean REAL windows & screen! :o) Thanks! ~Glo --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
