Well, I am actually not trying to run a scan. I just want to make sure I am able to boot into safe mode in case I ever need to. This has been the second instance of this happening. How do I know what is causing it to not boot into safe mode. Thanks for your response. ************************Reply Separator***************************** -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Can't Boot Into Safe Mode . From: Gman <gman.pctt@xxxxxxxxx> . If you do a CTRL+ALT+DEL, you'll see nothing special in the Processes tab as far as what's holding up the works, but you'll also see that not everything has loaded yet. Wait for an hour and it'll still be sitting at the same point as if something got "stuck". Well, that's basically because something did get "stuck". Since the CTRL+ALT+DEL function normally works in this situation, use it and from within that Task Manager window, go to Shut Down > Restart to make the system reboot normally (it's MUCH better for it than a hard shutdown or soft reset). Assuming the problem is just a random 'stuck' program, reboot directly into Safe Mode again. If you get through this time, go ahead and run the scan.
