Good for you! Yippeeeeeeee!

See.. You can do lots you did not know you could do. Sometimes..things only
'seem' hard' or mysterious because we think we know NOTHING..but.. that is
usually not true. We often times know more than we think we do......

Congrats! I also found Nero very easy to use.

You might want to consider upgrading some memory too..but first you have to
know what 'type' you have. How much you have... and what your machine can
hold. How many slots and what type and size each slot can hold. Another
easy thing to do and pretty cheap these days. I only mention this as you
are considering a new hard drive..and having more ram for the cd-rw cannot
hurt.

The real tech types can advise you better than I can.

As for a new hard drive.. I do not know enough about your system to know the
size limitations you have. But, I will recommend you wants the sale
papers.

Also check out www.computersurplusoutlet.com
I have bought a number of things from them. They are here in Las Vegas, but
I discovered them on the net. I have ordered from them and gone to their
warehouse too. I even returned something as it was not what I thought it
was...and they did not even charge me the posted re-stocking fee.. (shhh!)
lol!

I do not know where you are but I would, besides looking in the Sunday
papers, check:

www.officedepot.com
www.officemax.com
www.bestbuy.com
www.compusa.com and see what they have on sale. I would also sign up for
their ads to be sent to you. They sometimes send coupons with those ads
that you do not see elsewhere.

I personally have purchased Maxtor and Western Digital hard drives. I try
to buy the Western Digital with the 3 yr warranty. But hard drives are
cheap these days. I well remember running to Costco 12 yrs ago to get a big
bargain. There was 200MB or 250 MB drive on SALE for ONLY $1 a mb. wow!
Now you can buy a hard drive for about $1 a GB if you watch the sales.
Good luck..and have fun!

Hugs,
Rose

Well, I took a deep breath and opened the computer case. I installed the
CD-R/RW as the slave drive and kept the CD-ROM as Master. It booted up just
fine. I was really surprised at how easy the software was to use. It came
with Nero Express, within 5 minutes I was burning my first cd.
Now, I've upgraded my memory, and installed a CD-R/RW. Next, is the hard
drive. My current one is only 10 GB and I would like to get a larger one.
Any suggestions on brands. My motherboard is a Soyo SY-5SSM, running Windows
98.

I do not know any rules about slave/master with Cd-rw's and Cd-roms...but...
I know when I bought a puter with both... the CD-Rom as always the master.

That is my two cents worth!
