Rather than second guess myself (or have us go back & forth), I figured I'd
just rewrite the directions. :O)

With OE minimized:
1. Locate the old Inbox.dbx file and Copy it to your Desktop. This will
make it easy to locate later on in these instructions while still preserving
the original, just in case.

From within OE:
1. If there are any messages presently in the Inbox, right click on the
Inbox and select New Folder from the menu. Call it '!GMan's Help' without
the quotes. Using the exclamation mark in front of the name will force it
to the top of the subfolders Click Ok.

2. Go into your Inbox and Move all messages from the Inbox to the new
folder (GMan's Help). The easiest way to do this is to highlight one of the
messages and then press CTRL+A to select the rest. Then, just drag one of
them to the new '!GMan's Help' folder. If you've done this right, they'll
all move there and your Inbox will be empty. Go to File > Folder > Compact
to reclaim the space those messages used to use.

3. Click once directly on the new '!GMan's Help' folder and make sure the
messages arrived there safely (actually, this step is to highlight any
folder except for the Inbox). Minimize Outlook Express to get it out of
your way.

Outside of OE:
1. Go to Start > Search and tell it to look for '*.dbx' without the
quotes. If you have moved the OE storage folder to a different partition,
have it search that partition instead of the C:\ drive (or whichever drive
your operating system resides). When it's finished, make note of the path
statement(s) for all of the files. If you're the only one that uses your
computer and you only use a single login account, there will normally be
just one path to all of the DBX files. In your case, we also know you have
at least one old DBX file, so you should end up with two paths. Right now,
we're looking for the path that contains all of the DBX files currently in
use by OE.

2. Open up Windows Explorer and go to the end of the path you discovered
in the previous step. Scroll as necessary to locate the Inbox.dbx file. It
should be a relatively small file since it's been emptied & compacted (<
200K.). Right click on it and select Delete.

3. Minimize Windows Explorer and locate the older Inbox.dbx file on your
desktop. Use your left mouse button (right button for lefties) to grab and
drag the file down to your taskbar until it's hovering directly over the
button for Windows Explorer. This will bring Windows Explorer back up and
allow you to drop the file inside the OE storage folder.

Back in OE:
1. Click on your Inbox and rejoice. You should be looking at all of your
old inbox messages. You can now move all of the emails from the '!GMan's
Help' folder to the Inbox to combine them. Once the '!GMan's Help' folder
is empty, feel free to Delete it.

Peace,
GMan
