The key to the /'economic turn round'/(in my view) was, and is,
QE, with the insertion of £0.3+ trillion into the economy (just figures
entered onto a computer), a huge gamble, which may win the Conservatives
the next election (barring upset from us), but has left us with
galloping inflation (few thinking people accept the inflation figures
that the government puts out) and a growing housing bubble, and which, I
estimate, has cost me £50K - 70K in lost value on my savings. So it's
savers and pensioners who have effectively financed the turn round, not
anything marvelous the Tories have done.
True the last Labour government started QE, but they started it just
before losing office, so it was not they that benefitted from it, but
the Conservatives.
Printing money is a favourite trick of governments in trouble to buy
elections.
To get a measure of the effect of these sorts of tricks over the years,
- I _can't_now buy a mince pie with the money I got paid in the early
1950s as a newspaper boy - 40p for a 6 day week / 2 hour day for
delivering newspapers in all weathers before I set off for school.
Damn all governments for their deceit and selfishness.

carefully about the implications of another Labour government since
these people always leave a legacy of economic problems after they
have been in power. Of course UKIP have won MEP seats on the back of
a backlash against the EU and unrestrained immigration (another
Labour legacy), but in a general election people will vote for
broader issues, in particular those that affect their pocket.
Nonetheless you must be very pleased with the result.

An Independence from Europe - 685 nearly 10% of UKIP's vote -
it seems the voters mistook this party for UKIP in droves and maybe
deprived us of several MEPs - UKIP must challenge Electoral
Commission and demand that some of these votes be transferred (they
emulated our name and used one of our emblems).
But not bad for UKIP in a true blue establishment / Conservative area.
