I had an inquiry come in to me, just before
we started all the rush around with the Lumi's,
and I quoted a price that I thought would
be too high for them to want to do...
but, it appears they are serious about
setting up a star party at the Ak Chin Indian Community Library in Maricopa
AZ which is about 59 miles from PVCC main campus.
After I quoted $230/telescope, i did some research to figure out if that
library was non profit, and i couldn't' find a thing about it anywhere on
line, so i gave up my search and was thinking I wouldn't hear from Melanie
again. To my surprise, this morning an email came in and she wants to set up a
star party on Feb 19th.
So, here's what I know... and it isn't enough to set up this event... and i
don't have the booking doc yet... But I replied to her email, explained how
the evening would unfold, gave her all the data she needs to decide if she
wants to do this or not, and gave her the below pricing.
What i want to know is if there is anyone willing to go out to do this event
and I'm trying to get her to hire 2 scopes, or 1 scope and one presenter. So,
this pertains to all of you!
There's nothing going on on Feb 19 on the PAS Calendar. There's also no moon
but I have this data:
Moon is 3rd Quarter and sets in front of the Sun, therefore there is no moon
in the night sky on FEb 19th.
Sunset 6:15pm
Dark 7:45pm
Venus visible 640pm and is
53.8% lit, so it is a 3rd Quarter phase of
Venus, and it sets in the West about 10:15pm
Iss flyover from SW to NE at 6:51pm to 6:58pm
Orion Nebula is visible and is due south at 7:20pm
I'm suggesting a start time of NOT before 6:30 and
prefer a 7pm start time.
The pay break down at the moment that I sent Melanie
is:
1 telescope for 2 hours $260/scope + $25 PAS fee = $285
2 telescopes (or 1 scope & 1 meteorite man) for 2 hours is $260 x 2 + $25 =
$545
1 telescope for 3 hours is $260 + $130 for additional hour + $25 = $415
2 telescopes for 3 hours is $260 x 2 + $100/hour/scope for 3rd hour + 25 =
$745
If you are interested in doing this event, and you are free that night, send
back a reply saying you will take the event. I'm seeking to find out how many
telescopes want to do this event, and then i will look on the Rotation list
to see WHO does this event. Also, if no one wants to do it, I will cancel the
event and tell Melanie we don't have any telescopes free that night, with an
apology. So, reply if you are interested and can take this event. We would be
using, if more than one of you wants the event, the Main Star Tours rotation
list.
Thanks for letting me know if you can do this event.
This is not an RSVP - at this point it is an inquiry, but
IF more than one of you wishes to do this event knowing the minimum pay is
$260/scope, then I will look to the rotation list for who does it this time.
I await your replies. Send them now.
If I get the booking doc, and she agrees to the pricing that I originally
sent her way before December, which means she is seriously thinking of
setting up this event with PAS - then I will put event on the private
calendar for signups. But we will be limited as to how much time I will have
to set this event up, so please, reply very soon. And thank you!
