Ted, to answer your question the best would mean that if you can locate his
star, and make it a fun time for him and his wife, anyway you want to, and
take this event, then when you contact him after he approves paying for PAS
to do this for him by filling out the booking doc, then ask him because you
will also need to set up a location to do this, as he doesn't have one. So,
once he sends over the booking doc, and the star coordinates, then it is up
to the scope who takes this event to make it a memorable, fun event for Leo
and his wife. You know what i know at this point, but i love your screen
projection idea. He might also enjoy that.
Let's see what he sends back and from there I will update everyone with
what i Know, and see if anyone wants to take the event.

live images of stars down to mag 15 or fainter. They will be visible on a
laptop screen.
Also, does he expect us to show on a star map that the star field on the
screen/eyepiece matches the expected area around the target star, to
confirm he is seeing the exact star expected?

The Catch is that you have to show Leo his newly named and purchased
double star. I'm waiting on the booking doc, I"m waiting on the star info,
and this event is only 3 days away.
I don't know the magnitude of the star, yet, but Leo said he can send me
all that info once he has it.
The scope who takes this event should have setting circles, be able to
see faint enough objects to the magnitude of the star, and possibly one
extra magnitude more fainter... or a go-to or GPS model telescope.
Leo first contacted me on Mar 5 and Leah and i have been working on
getting this event set up but he is set on Mar 9 only... which makes it not
possible to rent Mike's place to do this at, and also makes a mess of which
scopes are avialble to do it.
So, put this in your RSVP.
1) *Size of scope you wish to do this event with*
2)* Location you would do this event *- since you, if you are chosen to
take this event, will be choosing the location to do it....
And 3) the *faintest your scope can see in magnitude*. For example, in
super dark skies - darker than at Mike's house - I can see through my 8"
scope a 13th magnitude star, but it wouldn't be super visible to those who
don't have a trained astronomy eye... so I would say my faintest view
through my 8" scope at Mike's house might only be to an 11th Magnitude or
10th magnitude to make sure the public, Leo and his Wife, can see it.
Once we have the coordinates and magnitude and additional info about the
binary stars, it will be easier to figure out who can take this event. So,
sign up, and
we will figure this out together. I hope to have the booking doc and star
info by noon tomorrow, or i plan to attach $50 for set up fee because of
how long it is taking Leo to send over the booking doc with time to set
this up for him.
RSVP now, please. If this a brighter double star, an 8" or Pete's and
Mark's refractors may be able to do this viewing event. I won't know until
we get the info.
