Ron, if necessary, I'll just use your swimming pool. Sam

As of 10 am this morning, Tuesday July 31st, I reviewed 10 different weather
forecasts for tonight in Cave Creek. The following are the averages:
37% clouds 6 mph winds 12% rain
Because of Monsoon season the reports varied greatly Clouds 0% to 85% wind
4 mph to 12 mph rain 0% to 38 %
Mars will be the subject of Ron Walkers 7 pm planetarium show at the Star Barn
in Cave Creek. Afterwards, around 9 pm or later, Mars will be observed through
some telescopes.
Even though there is a global dust storm on Mars, latest reports are that the
polar ice caps should be visible and perhaps a few other features may be seen.
This will be the closest approach of
Mars to the Earth in 15 years and it will be many more years until it is this
close again. Mark Johnston of PAS will have his refractor and I will have my
newtonian. There may be other telescopes as well. We will only set up our
scopes if the weather is ok.
If you are coming out to Cave Creek tonight, please RSVP with Ron Walker at the
Starbarn. Remember, no bathroom facilities.
Take care, Sam Insana
