I'll be there. --- On Mon, 1/14/13, Terri <cosmicstarstuff@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Terri <cosmicstarstuff@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: [pasmembers] Thursday PVCC Telescope Workshop To: "pasmembers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx" <pasmembers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Monday, January 14, 2013, 12:42 AM Before anyone cancels attending an event this next week, I'd like to mention that at Bookmans today, about an hour ago, 4 young boys are doing a school event in which they need to view, draw, and find out what moons are around Jupiter. I told them to come to the Thursday Telescope workshop / star party at PVCC and we can let them look through our scopes to get the data they need for their project at school. I'd really like to find out who can make it to PVCC and help with this event, the star party portion of it. Eric might want to use the Light bridge, and Don might assist with the telescope workshop. So, let's see who is RSVp'd and hopefully we can assist these young boys with their school project. Thanks in advance. See you Thursday Terri Good friends are like stars. Tuesday @BM, Thursday @PVCC, and a school Friday, I can probably only do 2 of the 3, so I have to decide which one not to attend. I am leaning towards doing BM and the school. I will bring a few extra cups, but it would be nice if PAS people brought their favorite hot drinks. So far I see Mike, Sam, Frank, Eric, Earl, Darlene, and Don as having rsvp'd. Dress warm, with parkas, hats, gloves. Tonight the seeing looks beautiful and it is cold. No doubt it will be cold at PVCC Blk Mountain. I just hate to cancel since we cancelled Nov and Dec and 3 times in a row is very sad indeed. However, if enough of you don't want to do it, let me know and I will ask Terri to cancel. Right now, however, I still want to give it a try. If you get real cold, we can take turns going inside the PVCC building to warm up for a few minutes. There will be a lot of good objects to view: Jupiter, Orion Nebula, Andromeda Galaxy, M81 & M82, Gamma Andromeda double star, etc...Let's try to make it work. So the temp should be 40 degrees at 7 pm and then get to the mid 30's by 10 pm. We should be out of there by 10 pm. Mike and I and Frank are still planning on doing the Jan 15th event. If it clouds up or if there are strong winds we can reconsider. But so far Skippy Sky says no clouds, The Weather Channel says no clouds and Accuweather says no clouds so I think we should still do it. Again, things could change so we should continue to monitor it each day. If anyone does back out, please let me know asap. While the official low for last night was 37º, it hit 29º here north of Pinnacle Peak. So, keep that in mind when we're looking at BMCC - it will be a good bit chillier than the Phoenix report.
