Earl, the sites look good for dryness, altitude, dark skies, and scenic.
However, he says from July to mid Sept monsoons can be a problem. It looks like
a trip in May or June would be best for next year, since the fall and winter
and early spring may be too cold.
Sept 24, 2016, we have about 6 PAS members doing the Annual Flagstaff Star
Party in Buffalo Park. You may want to do that event. I sent the info to all
PAS members a while back. If you need the details I can give them to you. If
you go to one of the 3 sites he suggests this year, maybe you would want to
borrow my sky quality meter and get a bortle reading for us.
Anyway, if you organize a trip next year I would be interested. Others may want
to try to do it this year. Thanks for the info. Sam

Subject: [pasmembers] Northern Arizona Observing Field Trip?
I would like to start a discussion about the club doing a weekend observing
trip to Flagstaff. Please look at todays Astronomy Picture of the Day and
click on the link to Jeremy Perezs' website. Look at the Northern Arizona
observing locations. Is the club interested? Being close to Flagstaff, there
would be lodging for those who would want to stay the weekend.
Any thoughts?
Earl
