Mike, I will be with Frank and Vera at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon this
weekend, GC Star Party and we will have his 16 inch telescope. I am sure Frank
would have loved to drive you over boulders and cactus at 115 degrees, but
maybe some other time. Good luck, hope you find the meteorites. Sam

If anyone is up to it. I am still dazed. It seems to have landed just north of
Roosevelt Dam on the dirt portion of 288. Where is Frank with his jeep?
Probably small light dark fragments that would disappear with the next rain.

Mike,
Are you asking for volunteers to go hunt for fragments from this meteorite with
you?

I heard this morning on the radio about the bright flash in the sky and the
apparent explosion of the object. The news announcement also said that it
appeared to be over one of the reservations in Arizona and that no seismic
activity was detected indicating that no large object impacted locally. That
was an indication that it exploded and no large fragments impacted.

Thanks, Kevin, for replying to the weather.com inquiry. I talked to Mike and
his initial reaction is that it was a bolide meteor. Mark Johnston also has the
same opinion. I only guessed at it. If anyone has any other information or
opinions, please let everyone know. If anyone hears information as to where the
debris may have landed, let us know. Kevin, if Mr Crugnale gets back to you,
please forward his reply. Mike, should I let Frank know you want to borrow his
jeep in the near future? Take care, Sam

Good morning,
I jumped on this as soon as I woke up this morning. After seeing a few video
captures, I'm certain it was a meteor. MY expert also confirmed it.
I responded to Mr Crugnale's request for confirmation. No idea yet on where
this may have gone or even if any mass hit the earth. It's a rare instance when
something actually lands, so time will tell. I'm plugged into the Meteorite
community and will update all if I hear anything.
In addition, if anyone wants to escape the sweltering heat this weekend,
Suzanne and I will be selling at the Flagstaff Gem and Mineral show on Fri, Sat
and Sun. Come up and see us.

Then,Kevin, if we get some responses from PAS members, especially you, Suzanne

with whatever the consensus is.
As Secretary of PAS it is best if you keep up your relations with the media as
spelled out in the new bylaws of PAS.
Thanks, Leah for forwarding the inquiry to our PAS members. I am not an expert,
but what about a bolide? What do people think? Sam
