if you are conversing with just one PAS Member, feel free to email them
directly,
but if you are in a conversation with many PAS Members and you want to draw
more members in for the discussion, then you might want to keep going on
the list serv
for the discussion.
Just keep in mind, things mentioned on the list serv are searchable by the
public.
Soon Members@xxxxxxxxx will be our list serv source... but when i sent the
email
out today to wish all August born PAS Members Happy Birthday, many
members replied they didn't get 2 copies of the email, which means the
Members@xxxxxxxxx may not be working properly as a group email just yet.
That is my input on this situation.
Once we know Members@xxxxxxxxx is working correctly,
we can stop using PASMembers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx.
But i wouldn't stop using freelists.org just yet,
or we won't be able to have club wide discussions.

FYI: PAS is setting up events. They aren't all on the calendar yet, but
once I have
them organized, i will send out an email of dates and events and hopefully

to the calendar entry for those events, so you can go RSVP your attendance,
where needed.

If you have suggestions on how to do virtual events, or what Virtual events
to do, please
send them my way and we will discuss setting them up.
PAS is attempting to set up:
* Virtual General Meetings with Guest Speakers, no less than 1 / month Sept
to May, and possibly, if
we are still virtual, through Summer 2021.
* Virtual Star Parties. This requires some members who would like to set up
their equipment and have
the ability to send what their scopes are viewing, through their laptop or
tablet to the Zoom meeting
that is being held to show and tell about the object being seen... so if
you have that ability and would like to
be one of the show and tell virtual telescope owner/operators for the
evening, let me know. We need everyone's help to share the views of the
night sky. I'm thinking 2 astronomers per night, doing sky tours, taking
turns on what objects they show, while 3 other PAS members - 1 fields the
questions to the astronomers, and 1 plays moderator to keep the public
behaving on the chat, and 1 member collects the list of objects that is
requested to be seen by the attendees, and provides that list to the
astronomers probably by phone text.
Just my thoughts on it right now.
and the third event:
* Virtual Telescope Workshops - need help for this too.
* Astronomers wanting to help me with this event need to send me an outline
of their
presentation, so that we don't have anyone repeating anyone else, and each
of us
adds something to the presentation. Such as, William can review the
different types of telescopes
available to a new purchaser. I can introduce the panelists (that's the
astronomers). Another
astronomers can talk about his experience with his Dob, and another can
talk about his experience (pros and cons)
of his Equatorial mount, Maybe have someone like Calvin go over using
binoculars. We can break up what we talk about, but put it all in a
formatted way that we start all Telescope Workshops with this same info,
presented by the same astronomers, and then open it up to the attendees to
ask questions. Maybe one astronomer can research the best pricing for that
night's workshop, of where to purchase. Another astronomer can talk about
websites that might help a newbee. I would like to do this, but format it
and make it of interest to those attending so that there's a little info in
each astronomer's data they share. If you have ideas on how to make this
work, let me know because we haven't done it yet, and I was hoping to hold
3 (one per month) telescope workshops during the summer - virtually. It
didn't happen, and I have public asking about telescope workshops. This is
one of the life lines of PAS... meaning it creates members. I know we can't
do much through virtual help on individual telescopes, but we can offer
advice on purchasing their first telescope.

Hi Richard,
Unless you also have another group that uses a gsuite website you do not
need to do all that. Just make sure that the gsuite is signed in first then
you can sign in to your personal account and the gsuite one swill still be
the controlling account you can access your personal google drive and do
everything else in Google.
