The Night Sky Network is giving a webinar this evening on hunting for
meteorites in the Antarctic. This should be a very interesting
presentation. Dr. Emilie Dunham, one of our former speakers, was on an
Antarctic meteorite hunt in the fall of 2019. The group she was with found
several hundred meteorites.
I have attended several of the NSN webinars and they all have been very
interesting and informative.

Scouts* have teamed up to offer another round of free online workshops for
amateur astronomers about the new Space Science badges and best practices
for engaging Girl Scouts with astronomy. If you are interested in these

2. Join the NASA Night Sky Network *tonight*, *Tuesday*, *August 25 *at *6pm
PT/9pm ET* to hear* Dr. Cynthia Evans* tell us about NASA's search for
*meteorites
in Antarctica.*
Dr. Evans will describe some of her recent experiences deployed to
Antarctica as part of *NASA’s Antarctic Search for Meteorites
(ANSMET)* 2019-2020
field team. She will also discuss the importance of NASA’s meteorite
collection for understanding solar system evolution and relevance for
current and future NASA missions.
*About Dr. Cynthia Evans*
Cynthia Evans is the Senior Exploration Scientist for the Astromaterials
Research and Exploration Science (ARES) Division within the Exploration
Integration and Science Directorate at NASA's Johnson Space Center. Trained
as a geologist and oceanographer, Evans earned a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences in
1983 from the Scripps Institute of Oceanography, University of California,
San Diego and a BS in geology from the University of Rochester.
