Sat Aug 12th starting at 3 pm. The first hour will be light polluted skies as
seen in the valley to show what constellations are available. Ron will discuss
these bright constellations and take any questions you may have. The 2nd hour
will be dark skies where lesser constellations can be seen. See below, Ron
would like us to bring our star charts, red flashlights and laser pointers if

I am asking Terri to put this on our PAS Calendar asap so our members can rsvp
for this planetarium event. Also rsvp with Ron Walker at
"thestarbarn@xxxxxxxxx" so he knows how many to expect in his planetarium. It
is located in Cave Creek and if you rsvp with Ron he will give you directions
if you need them.
Also, after the planetarium show we have a potluck at Mike's house in Carefree.
Following the potluck is a Meeting of the Minds where PAS members will discuss
some important issues. Following that will be a viewing of the Perseids meteor
shower or if bad weather, seeing a sci fi movie at Mike's.
I hope we get a big turnout for these events on Aug 12th.

At 6 pm PAS has a pot luck at Mike's house, then a Meeting of the Minds, and
then a Persieds meteor shower or sci fi movie viewing depending on the weather.
It has been suggested that part of the constellation program concentrate on the
more unusual, difficult to find constellations, and part of the program on the
larger, easier to find constellations. I think you are able to create light
pollution with your projector so that we can see what constellations are
visible in the city and then with your dark settings what constellations are
visible in very dark viewing areas. Anyway, Ron, please reply asap so that I
can get this on our PAS calendar and personally send an email to all members
about your constellation event and for them to rsvp to attend. Thanks, Sam
