You are right on track Terry, a good mount is 3/4 of astronomy, and the tube is
1/2 :)

Subject: [pasmembers] Astrophotography questions

Hello members of PAS. I have a few questions I would like to ask about
astrophotography as I am wanting to get into it. First off, I'm not 100% sure
that I am going enjoy doing this yet so for now i just need some decent
equipment that will still be good for visual use in case I don't like doing
astrophotography. First question. What mount should I get? From what I have
read the orion atlas EQ-G seems like the winner. It's not the best mount out
there but in case I don't want to do photography it's still seems like a very
nice go to mount for visual use. And second, I can't seem to make up my mind on
a scope. I know I want a refractor. I've been looking at the meade series 6000
115mm APO triplet and the explore scientific 127ED essential series. Both of
which seem like they would also be great for visual use as well. I know I could
get great results with an 80mm but like I said before, if I end up not liking
astrophotography an 80mm refractor won't cut it for visual use (especially
since I have an 8" reflector lol)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you- Terry
