I went out jogging one evening, in blue jeans because it was cold and on the
spur of the moment. My bad luck that I jogged past a house up the street that
had just been burglarized ... I said good evening to the officer standing at
the front gate and he grunted back, but I was stopped at the corner by a
policewoman and questioned for about half an hour before they could get the
victim to come out and take a look at me and confirm that it wasn't me (good
thing there was no resemblance). Rationally, by my address down the street, my
running past the residence and the uniformed cop standing out front, my
demeanor, lack of stolen goods, etc. I was about the least likely person in SB
to have been the culprit. Ah, but I was jogging in blue jeans in the evening,
and the policewoman was certain that no one does that. I informed her that she
had a very narrow understanding of the range of human behavior.
