Have been doing mostly "comfort
food" the last few days.

Middle of last week Jake, our
lovely Siamese, started developing some

the week since we lost his brother to

kidney failure. After lots of
tests on Friday he was diagnosed with diabetes.

Much better than kidney failure
but still a big concern. He now needs

which is for a short time at least going to

middle of this Peggy was told that a

last Wednesday had tested positive

for COVID. So all that stress
called for soups, risotto, simple steaks

and family tradition pasta.
Fingers crossed, we appear to have dodged

the COVID as we are now at 6
days from Peggy's contact.

Venetian Chicken with Almond Milk & Dates

Had this for lunch today. Venetian Chicken with Almond Milk & Dates from
The Nutmeg Trail by Eleanor Ford. Absolutely loved it – based on a
handwritten 14th century recipe, from back when Venice was at the end of the
so-called spice route. Lots of Middle Eastern-ish flavours happening here
(cinnamon, nutmeg, coriander, clove, ginger, garlic, bay) but while full of
flavour it came across as delicately spiced, not sure how to describe it except
my taste buds were happy. 🙂

Will share the recipe if anyone is interested.
