Thank you Paul for the introduction to the members, I must correct your
reference to me being President of Warwickshire,  I am actually President
of Stratford upon Avon BKA,  we are independent of Warwickshire and have
been since approx 1938,  at that time there was a disagreement between  Mr
Waldron (he manufactured the Waldron queen excluders and metal ends) and
the Warwickshire County committee of which he was a member,  so he decided
to form an independent BKA in the S.on.A  District we now have approx 130
members.



I am pleased to have been accepted into your group,  I have been keeping
and promoting Amm honeybees since 1990 and admire the work you are doing
within your group to raise awareness of the benefits of the local bee.

mesh.
I peeled off the backing and attached it to a carefully cut out hole on
the side of the box, only to find that it is impervious - no air comes
through the mesh
due to the sticky glue applied to the back of it.  What method did you
use to remove the glue and make it breathable?
Perhaps I will revert to my previous method of punching small holes in a
swarm box!

I use a different kind of insect mesh. I should have specified *metal

mesh. The last lot I bought was this:

There are lots of types available and you can get it cheaper, I wanted a
large amount.

In addition I would remind people that when taping up a swarm box, not all
tapes are equal. The glue on cheap packing tape / duct tape can melt over
a
few hours as the warmth of the bees inside softens it, and some people
have
had entire swarms leave the box overnight - chaos ensues! - I myself had
one escape into my garage and I've seen one in a car! So use a good
quality
duct tape. This year I am using this one:

1 Roll Strong Reinforced Glass Filament Crossweave Tape 50mm x 50m

Yes, Liz (thanks again, Liz) gave me a lovely swarm today which I just
hived into my TBH. I walked them in, and it worked brilliantly. Liz did
try
to get hold of people on the priority list first but without success. So I
was the lucky one! Liz did a fab job with the cardboard box, it took me
quite a while to decide where to best cut it open, lots of mesh etc., it
was a shame to destroy the box...
